Advanced photo techniques for aquatic enthusiasts (2-day workshop)
Spend a weekend honing your photo skills in the beautiful lakes and streams of New York's Adirondack Mountains!

SUNY Pack Demonstration Forest (Southern Adirondack Mountains) Warrensburg, New York (80 miles N of Albany, NY)
This comprehensive weekend workshop is aimed at aquatic scientists, conservationists, naturalists, and educators with beginner to intermediate photographic skill who want an immersive learning experience to effectively visualize, capture, enhance, organize, and utilize digital photographs. This workshop includes intensive field and lab exercises covering:
- The importance of photography in science, education, and outreach
- Fundamental photographic principles and techniques
- Digital equipment, techniques, and workflow
- Advanced techniques in digital photo editing, organization, and management
- Advanced techniques in natural history photography
- Advanced techniques in underwater photography
- Photographic sampling and documentation in biological research
Location: The SUNY Pack Demonstration Forest is a field camp for environmental education, and provides us an ideal place to explore freshwater photography, with easily accessible lakes, streams, and wetlands, as well as guest cabins, cafeteria, and classrooms. Directions.
To bring: Digital camera and user's manual, spare camera battery and charger (if possible), memory card(s), camera-to-computer cable, any other photo gear you'd like to work with, outdoor shoes/boots, water, sunscreen, rain gear, wading/snorkeling gear (if desired), laptop computer with Photoshop software (if available).
Cost: $275/person ($250 for FI members). Price includes room and board for Saturday - Sunday (participants may stay Friday/Sunday nights to accomodate travel schedules).
1-Day Option: Participants with time constraints may register for only Saturday, but this option severely limits field time ($150/person)
