Digital Photography for Aquatic Scientists
Presented at the Aquatic Sciences Meeting of the American Society of Limnology & Oceanography
Sante Fe, New Mexico, February 4, 2007: 9am - 5pm, Hilton Hotel - Mesa Ballroom A
This comprehensive workshop is aimed at beginner to intermediate photographers and will cover:
- The importance of photography in science, education, and outreach
- Fundamental photographic principles and techniques
- Digital equipment, techniques, and workflow
- Digital photo editing, organization, and management
- Natural history photography
- Underwater photography*
- Photographic sampling and documentation in biological research
*underwater photography will be covered in the workshop, but because we have a large group and little field time, we will not be doing underwater photography in the field beyond some brief demonstrations
To bring: Digital camera and user's manual, spare camera battery and charger (if possible), memory card(s), camera-to-computer cable, any other photo gear you'd like to work with, outdoor shoes/boots, water, sunscreen, warm clothing layers
